- The WAICO will uphold the UN Charter and ensure artificial intelligence remains "secure and controllable" under human oversight. Its objective is to create an equitable framework for global governance prioritizing mutual benefit and consultation.
- During the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Chinese President Xi Jinping pledged 5,000 training and seminar opportunities for developing nations. He emphasized AI advancement should not be a "solo performance" by one country, but a "symphony of global collaboration."
- Xi urged nations to reject "overstretching the national security concept" in artificial intelligence. While he did not name the United States, the country has enacted export controls limiting Chinese access to advanced technology, including placing Huawei on the Commerce Department's Entity List.
- The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres attended the signing ceremony, signaling international endorsement. Collaboration will include the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the League of Arab States, and the African Union.
