- University student Sarah Paul testified she heard screaming and saw a man in black inside her home, where Elk was discovered with 21 stab wounds, corroborating neighbour accounts of a male pursuer.
- Representing himself throughout the trial, Cathcart has pleaded not guilty to both charges, with his closing submissions set to follow the Crown's final arguments delivered yesterday.
