A 37-year-old Crawfordville man is dead following a collision on US Highway 98 in Franklin County on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 37-year-old Crawfordville man was killed Saturday afternoon on U.S. 98, just west of Apalachicola, when the car he was driving struck an SUV he was trying to pass, and then hit a tree. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 4:15 p.m. the man was headed eastbound, near Apalachee Street, when he tried to pass the SUV in front of him, being driven by a 44-year-old Carrabelle woman.
