Corporates urge employees to stay alert as H1N1 cases surge
Hospitals have set up dedicated isolation wards as officials say most cases are mild and no patients have required ICU care.
- Delhi has reported 2,308 H1N1 cases this year, representing a six-fold increase over the 1,777 cases recorded by August 20 last year, with children and elderly populations facing heightened risk.
- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta convened an emergency review meeting on Tuesday with Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and senior health officials to address the spike in swine flu infections spreading across the capital.
- The Directorate of Education issued a circular Monday directing all schools to adopt a "Healthy School-Healthy Community" approach, strengthening respiratory hygiene and preventive practices through morning assemblies and parent communication channels.
- ICMR Director Rajiv Bahl stated "most infections are mild, although severe cases can occur, particularly among very young children, people above 65, those who are immunocompromised and pregnant women." No patients require ICU admission or ventilators.
- Authorities are also tracking 2,200 dengue cases detected as of Monday, with a national surveillance network of 73 laboratories monitoring H1N1, Influenza B, and Covid-19 circulating simultaneously across the region.
