Assessor Fritz Kaegi’s biggest blunders involved four Brookdale Senior Living properties in Lake View, Lincoln Park, Des Plaines and Glenview. All were discovered by Brookdale, which found that its 2021 tax bills were wrongly cut by $530,541. In January, Brookdale paid the money it should have, but Kaegi had waived $424,433 in penalties and interest.
