Child rapist who made jet ski prison escape allegedly with family help captured after year on the run
- Convicted child rapist Samuel Hartman, who escaped from an Arkansas prison a year ago and allegedly used a jet ski to cross the Mississippi River, was captured in Lewisburg, West Virginia, along with his sister Misty Hartman and his mother Linda White. Hartman was serving a life sentence for the rape of a 9-year-old child when he escaped.
- The women, Misty Hartman and Linda White, are accused of helping Samuel Hartman escape from the prison. Abandoned jet skis were found on the Mississippi side of the river, and witnesses reported seeing one man and two women riding them.
- The arrests in West Virginia were made by U.S. marshals and local law enforcement, and Rodney Trent, identified as Linda White's boyfriend, faces felony charges for harboring a sex offender and assisting Hartman and the two women. The suspects are expected to be extradited to Arkansas. Hartman was previously convicted of rape in 2013 in Franklin County, Arkansas.
