China's coast guard said it had conducted "law enforcement patrols" around Taiwan on Tuesday, the same day Beijing announced military drills around the island.

In response to the PLA Eastern Theater Command's joint exercises around Taiwan, the Republic of China's Coast Guard Administration said today (1st) that it had detected a Chinese Coast Guard fleet also cooperating with the exercises and sailing close to the Dongyin waters of Matsu, and had immediately dispatched patrol boats to drive away the two intruding Chinese Coast Guard ships.
