Recently, a study by Father Licio de Araujo Vale, of the Diocese of Sao Miguel Paulista, specialized in Suicide and Automutilation at the Paranaense University and in Suicide Prevention by the University of Santa Catalina, in which he reported that between 2016 and 2023 some 40 priests committed suicide in Brazil. “In the case of priests, several studies point out that the main risk factors are stress, loneliness and overload of demands.”
