Colchester business Vermont Nut Free Chocolates plans to phase out artificial dyes by the end of 2026

The company is responding to customer demand and FDA pressure as it expands natural-color products to more retailers and wholesalers.

The Colchester-based business has already formulated its M&M-style candies, Skippers, with colors sourced from blackcurrant, sweet potatoes, carrots, radishes and beets. The business hopes by moving away from artificial dyes, its products can be picked up by more natural food wholesalers and land on shelves at stores like Healthy Living and Whole Foods.
