In the past, coffins whose burial rights had not yet expired were opened at Essenhof Cemetery in Dordrecht, without a permit and without the knowledge of the relatives, the municipality reported Wednesday. This happened "with the intention of finding a solution" to problems surrounding so-called cellar graves. Nevertheless, the municipality calls the situation "extremely distressing."
