At the Fruit Growing Research Centre (PC Fruit) in Sint-Truiden, researchers have discovered that clover and herbs result in much lower temperatures in fruit plantations than traditional grass strips. Temperatures can be up to 20 degrees lower. The researchers have been experimenting with this for several years, but due to the persistent drought and the hot summer, the results are undeniable this year.
