QUEBEC, CANADA, AUG 6 – Clara Tauson dedicated her straight-sets win over Madison Keys to her late grandfather and remains unbeaten in sets at the WTA 1000 event, officials said.
- On Tuesday, Danish 16th seed Clara Tauson advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Madison Keys 6-1, 6-4 at the National Bank Open.
- Amid personal grief, Clara Tauson learned of her grandfather Peter’s death on Monday, then played two days later to reach the semifinals.
- Dominating with statistical command, Tauson hit five aces, converted three of six breakpoints, saved all three she faced, and won 59 per cent of points.
- Tauson will face the winner of Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina on Wednesday for a spot in the final.
- She remains undefeated in sets, one win from her second WTA 1000 final after losing the first in February at Dubai to Mirra Andreeva.
