Brendan Canty's Cork-set drama Christy leads with 14 nominations, including best film and director, highlighting strong first-time nominees and record women directors, IFTA said.
- On Friday, the Irish Film & Television Academy announced nominations for the 2026 IFTA Awards across 29 categories, with Christy leading with 14 nominations; winners will be revealed at the 23rd IFTA Awards on February 20 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
- Christy, the Cork-set coming-of-age film, earned notice for debut feature director Brendan Canty and first-time acting nominees Daniel Power, Emma Willis, and Jamie Forde.
- Saipan followed Christy with 12 nominations, while Blue Moon secured eight, Four Mothers received seven, and Irish-language feature Aontas had six.
- IFTA CEO Áine Moriarty said it is `a fantastic time for the Irish screen industry right now`, and this year Ciarán Hinds will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Further details of the ceremony and guest presenters are expected in the coming weeks, with actors returning to Ireland next month for the event.
