The Chinese journalist who tried to launch the #MeToo movement in her country was sentenced to five years in prison for 'incitement to undermine state authority', announced the supporting collective, AFP reports.
She had been in the sights of the authorities since her participation in the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement in 2019. A prison sentence that illustrates that the Chinese government is still heavily cracking down on civil society.
