- Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council said Beijing's refusal to recognise Taiwan's sovereignty is the core problem, while Wellington Koo and President Lai condemned the drills and US intelligence warned of China's growing attack capabilities.
- Beijing said it will speed up tech self-reliance as the United States tightens controls on semiconductors, framing the coming years and 2026 as critical under the 15th Five-Year Plan.
