China revises catalog of technologies subject to export controls
CHINA, JUL 15 – China added battery cathode material technology to export controls and eased restrictions on some architectural technologies to balance security and international cooperation, officials said.
- On July 15, 2025, China’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology jointly published an updated list detailing technologies that are banned or restricted from export.
- The revision followed extensive consultations and aimed to align export controls with technological developments, national security, and trade realities.
- Key changes included adding battery cathode material preparation technology to the restricted list and removing controls on traditional Chinese architectural and environmental control technologies.
- The spokesperson stated that restricted technologies require export licenses while prohibited ones cannot be exported, and the update added five control points to lithium-related metallurgy technologies.
