Resuming direct flights with India positive move to improve ties: China
IndiGo and Air India will resume daily direct flights between key Indian and Chinese cities, boosting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange after a five-year suspension, officials said.
- On October 2, the Ministry of External Affairs announced direct air services between India and China can resume by late October 2025, with IndiGo operating daily Kolkata–Guangzhou from October 26, 2025 and New Delhi–Guangzhou from November 10, 2025.
- Following diplomatic and military talks, the MEA said, `Yesterday we had issued a press release and thereafter I understand that commercial activity in this regard has started,' in line with normalization efforts between India and China.
- The Delhi–Guangzhou flight departs Delhi at 9:45 pm, arrives early morning, returns at 05:50, uses Airbus A320, and tickets are available on the IndiGo website.
- The resumption will enhance air connectivity, supporting people-to-people exchanges and helping Indian students, traders, and SMEs gain from lower travel costs and better market access.
- Air India plans to launch direct flights on the Delhi–Shanghai route later this year while civil aviation authorities continue technical talks on a revised Air Services Agreement.
