Bus passengers intervened to stop the abduction attempt, and the suspect pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping at Swindon Crown Court.
- On March 6 at around 9.30pm, Abdulmawal Ibrahim Adam, 27, grabbed and dragged a 17-year-old girl across a road in Swindon near Princes Street and Fleming Way.
- He continued following the teenager despite her ignoring his attempts to chat, and the victim tried to flag down passing vehicles to get away from Adam.
- Chilling CCTV footage shows Adam grabbing and dragging the girl at a set of traffic lights while bus passengers intervened and members of the public recorded footage.
- The court remanded Adam in custody and set sentencing for December 12 after he pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping at Swindon Crown Court yesterday.
- Detective Constable Anna McCormack said `This was a terrifying incident for the victim, and I appreciate the significant impact this will have on the victim moving forward`, praising the teenager's mother and members of the public who assisted.
