A residential fire in Robeson County led to the death of one child. The flames broke out around 7:20pm Thursday night. Crews were called to Marada Road in the Maxton community. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
