Charleston City Council unanimously approves $70,000 for food distribution
Charleston's City Council unanimously voted, on Nov. 3, 2025, to allocate $70,000 for food distribution in the wake of a federal government shutdown that has stopped SNAP funds from reaching recipients. The Kanawha Valley Collective will receive $60,000 to distribute food in November and December. Parks and Recreation facilities will use the other $10,000 to give out food primarily to local children.
