The law that most Slovenians opposed: artificial insemination now also for single and same-sex women

The amendment to the law equalizes the position of women in same-sex partnerships and single women with that of heterosexual couples.

The coalition parties Levica, Svoboda and SD have submitted an amendment to the law on infertility treatment and biomedically assisted reproduction procedures, which would also grant women in same-sex relationships and single women the right to these procedures.

Coalition parties today submitted an amendment to the Act on Infertility Treatment and Biomedically Assisted Reproduction Procedures to the National Assembly.

The Austrian news agency APA reported, among other things, on a proposed amendment to the infertility treatment law, which envisages the removal of restrictions on the right to artificial insemination for single women and women in same-sex relationships. It also reported on a proposal to establish a fund for the preservation and revival of the Slovene language in Carinthia.

In Switzerland, only married women have the right to the donation of sperm. Parliamentarians join forces to amend the law, while more and more single women travel abroad to design a child. The program Time Present was able to gather the testimony of some of them.
