Kazakhstan's Kairat, who eliminated Olimpija Ljubljana in the first round of Champions League qualifying, lost the first match of the second round in Finland to KuPS (2:0). Crvena zvezda, for which Slovenian midfielder Timi Max Elšnik plays, struggled quite a bit in Gibraltar against Lincoln Red Imps (0:1).
Slovenia is without a representative after Olimpija's express elimination in the first round of the Champions League qualifiers. However, six Slovenian legionnaires are still in the game to play in the most elite European football club competition. Crvena zvezda, with Timi Max Elšnik, who played the entire match, won the first match of the second preliminary round against the Gibraltar team Lincoln Red Imps 1:0.
