Chainlink, UBS Advance $100T Fund Industry Tokenization via Swift Workflow
The pilot enables banks to manage tokenized fund workflows on blockchain using existing Swift infrastructure, targeting the $100 trillion global fund industry to improve efficiency and transparency.
- On September 30, 2025, Chainlink, Swift and UBS launched a Frankfurt pilot linking Swift ISO 20022 messages to Chainlink's Runtime Environment, tested with UBS Tokenize.
- The effort responds to long-standing frictions in mutual funds, building on Project Guardian and prior MAS pilots to address delays and high costs in the $100 trillion fund industry.
- The integration processes ISO 20022 messages and CRE receives Swift messages to trigger on-chain actions via the Chainlink Digital Transfer Agent standard, while cash settles off-chain through Swift.
- Banks will be able to keep existing identity and key management systems while the UBS pilot showed that institutions can avoid costly upgrades and reduce reconciliation and compliance processes.
- Momentum is visible as Chainlink advances related pilots, with 24 global banks and infrastructure providers tackling the $58 billion corporate actions problem alongside DTCC, Euroclear and more than 30 global banks.
