Chad Shuts Sudan Border After Drone Strike Kills Civilians in El Tina
El Tina / N'djamena / Mabrouka -- Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby has ordered the immediate closure of Chad's 1,300-kilometre border with Sudan and placed the military on maximum alert following a deadly drone strike on a border town, yesterday.
The Minister of the Army Issakha Malloua Djamous and the Minister of Public Security Ali Ahmat Akhabache have been present since 19 March 2026, in eastern Chad, in Tiné, where a drone strike from Sudan killed at least 19 people on 18 March. Accompanied by the Chief of General Staff Abakar Abdelkerim Daoud, they met troops deployed on the border with Sudan while the Chadian army was placed "in maximum alert".
