René Redzepi, the head chef and co-founder of one of the world's most famous restaurants, Noma, is stepping down after allegations of violence and humiliation of employees, he announced on social media. The high-end Danish restaurant was preparing to open a branch in Los Angeles, but financial backers pulled out of the project after the allegations.
At the beginning of February, Jason Ignacio White, former head of fermentation at Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, shared in his Instagram profile a comment explaining a situation he witnessed while working at the multi-prime Danish establishment. According to White, a trainee burned her face with steam when she opened the oven and, instead of immediately helping her, part of Noma’s staff laughed at her.
