Carrick Confirms MLS-Bound Casemiro's Old Trafford Exit
Casemiro was celebrated in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest and will miss the final-day trip to Brighton, Carrick said.
Head coach Michael Carrick confirmed that Casemiro played his final match for Manchester United last Sunday following an emotional Old Trafford farewell, meaning the 34-year-old will not feature in the season finale at Brighton.
United announced in January that Casemiro would leave upon contract expiration, and the Brazilian midfielder is reportedly closing in on a move to Inter Miami in Major League Soccer after four successful years.
During last Sunday's 3-2 victory against Nottingham Forest, fans celebrated the veteran, who made 34 Premier League appearances this season and wrote, "Manchester will forever be my home."
While Carrick's contract situation awaits formal announcement, the head coach stated, "This club's about bringing young players through," and plans to offer academy talents opportunities against Brighton's Seagulls.
Guaranteed to finish third in the Premier League, United faces the finale with no pressure, while the Seagulls sit seventh, fighting to secure European football qualification on the final weekend.
