Cars dropping off individual students shows skewed priorities

I frequently drive by a high school in Oceanside in the morning and see hundreds of children arriving for school in private cars, and then heading home in the same cars in the afternoon. Now multiply what I see by 10,581, the number of schools in California. Isn’t it more sensible to have 50 students arrive and return home in one school bus than 50 cars?
