Car crashes onto train tracks west of Sydney
Train services were cancelled between Springwood and Emu Plains after a car fell onto tracks, with recovery delayed by live 1,500-volt overhead wires, officials said.
- On December 3, 2025, a car crashed onto the train tracks at Blaxland, forcing cancellation of all trains between Springwood and Emu Plains and disrupting services west of Sydney.
- The car veered off the Great Western Highway at Blaxland, fell from a bridge and landed on its roof on the tracks, FRNSW said.
- Paramedics treated the sole driver, a man in his 20s, for minor injuries at the scene, and fifteen replacement buses run the Springwood–Penrith replacement route.
- No Blue Mountains services are running from Blacktown, Parramatta or Strathfield, and Transport for NSW said repairs to overhead wiring will keep trains from running between Springwood and Penrith during the afternoon peak.
- An investigation is under way, police and transport officials said, while Transport for NSW warned trains may not run tomorrow due to complex repairs and existing 30-minute T4 delays.
