In 2024, 51,183 people died of cancer in North Rhine-Westphalia, the state statistical office announced on Monday. This means cancer was the cause of death in 23.2 percent of all fatalities. The number of cancer-related deaths remained almost unchanged compared to the previous year, but their share of all deaths increased by 0.6 percentage points.
