In the villages of Rutshuru, Masisi or Kibumba, the stories are sadly similar. Several girls (sometimes barely out of childhood) said that they had been targeted after their villages had been surrounded by armed men, who were locked in abandoned houses, in forest huts or in improvised enclosures. They sometimes stayed there for several weeks, sometimes months, under the supervision of fighters who were circulating between rebel positions.
