Burning underway in the Gibb Unit, several miles east of Long Creek

LONG CREEK – Fire officials with the Malheur National Forest are conducting fire treatment operations in the Gibb prescribed burn unit, according to information from the John Day Interagency Dispatch Center. The Blue Mountain Ranger District is planning to burn 109 acres in the unit, located approximately 14 miles east of Long Creek. Ignitions are expected to take place through January 20th.
