Budweiser Stage renamed RBC Amphitheatre, will close in 2027 for renos
- Live Nation Canada announced the performance space at Ontario Place was renamed the RBC Amphitheatre under a sponsorship running to 2038, with renovations starting in fall 2027 and reopening as a year-round venue by summer 2030.
- Part of a wider redevelopment, Ontario Place will include parkland, walking trails and a beach alongside a controversial spa and waterpark privately run by Therme Canada, with the venue previously known as Budweiser Stage set as a main attraction on Toronto's western waterfront.
- Structural upgrades include extending the lawn for 2,000 more fans, rebuilding the roof with movable panels for a 9,000-capacity indoor space, and adding a lookout platform and elevators, officials said.
- A temporary venue will operate while renovations close the amphitheatre, and RBC said its sponsorship includes opportunities for ticket upgrades and giveaways.
- About 75 shows a year keep the venue busy; artists note its dressing rooms overlooking the city and over-water setting, while Live Nation Canada will preserve lawn and skyline views.
