Broncos linebackers Singleton and Greenlaw return from injuries for season opener against Titans
Both linebackers overcame major injuries last season; their combined leadership and playmaking are expected to strengthen the Broncos' defense in their season opener, coach Sean Payton said.
- Alex Singleton and Dre Greenlaw, both recovering from injuries, will start as inside linebackers for the Broncos in their season opener Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
- Both players missed much of last season due to injuries, with Singleton recovering from a torn ACL sustained last September and Greenlaw recovering from a torn Achilles tendon suffered in the 2023 Super Bowl.
- Singleton returned to practice this summer after thumb surgery, logged snaps in preseason games, and has eagerly awaited playing alongside Greenlaw since the latter joined Denver in free agency.
- Coach Sean Payton praised Greenlaw’s physical play comparing it to Mike Tyson and said Greenlaw didn’t play preseason but received extensive work, while both players’ workloads will be monitored closely.
- Their return suggests improved linebacker depth for the Broncos, though monitoring will continue due to prior injuries and recent setbacks over the summer.
