Broadcom Seeks More than $60 Billion in Latest AI Debt Deal, Bloomberg News Reports

Broadcom is in talks with a group of lenders to raise more than $60 billion in debt for an AI chip financing deal that will benefit Anthropic and other companies, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
Blackstone and Apollo Global Management are in talks to participate in the chip financing, following a partnership the three companies struck in June to help finance computing infrastructure.
Under the proposed plan, Broadcom would guarantee a senior-secured tranche ranging from $60 billion to $70 billion, potentially bringing the total to $100 billion and including a roughly $30 billion junior debt tranche.
Broadcom shares rose as much as 1.1 percent in late trading after Bloomberg News reported on the discussions, reflecting investor optimism about the chipmaker's competitive positioning.
Broadcom's valuation has soared in recent years, propelled by agreements to make custom AI chips for firms like OpenAI, with the company expecting AI chip sales to top $100 billion next year.
