British Gas owner Centrica warns of low gas stores after cold snap
We may have just had the world’s hottest year on record, but the UK has now measured its coldest January night in 15 years. Temperatures dropped to minus 14.6 Celsius in the Highlands. And the owner of British Gas is now warning that UK gas stores are at “concerningly low” levels.
Centrica, the company that operates Britain's largest gas storage facility, said that the country's gas storage levels were "worryingly low", with the amount of gas in storage holdings likely to meet the country's consumption for less than a week after the cold snap.
