The Classic includes horses from five continents and could determine Horse of the Year, with $7 million in prize money and 191 contenders pre-entered, officials said.
- On Oct. 31 the World Championships at Del Mar drew 207 horses from five continents, including eight previous winners.
- The Classic often settles year-end awards and has produced 16 Horse of the Year honorees, while Sovereignty and Journalism could decide the 3-year-old title this year.
- Trainer-first: Todd Pletcher holds four entries into the Classic field, while Chad Brown has two and Bob Baffert has three with Antiquarian, Baeza, Contrary Thinking, Locked, Mindframe and Nevada Beach.
- Saturday's Classic goes as the sixth race at a 6:25 p.m. post time on NBC, Peacock and FanDuel TV, with final entries and the post-position draw set for Monday following 191 individual contenders.
- The 14 Grade 1 races total more than $34 million, including a rematch of Sierra Leone, Fierceness and Forever Young, and `The incredible group of horses pre-entered for this year's Breeders' Cup reflects the unmatched quality and global prestige of the World Championships`, said Drew Fleming.
