The Republican People’s Party (CHP) has referred Edirne lawmaker Ahmet Baran Yazgan to a disciplinary board with a request for his permanent expulsion following allegations of sexual harassment and a criminal investigation into the incident. CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı announced the decision on social media Friday after the party had earlier summoned Yazgan to headquarters to examine the allegations.
The statement given to the prosecutor's office by T.A., who claims to have been harassed by CHP Edirne Member of Parliament Ahmet Baran Yazgan, has come to light. T.A. stated that Ahmet Baran Yazgan physically touched her against her will in the restroom and in the presence of a group of friends.
It has emerged that Ahmet Baran Yazgan, the CHP Edirne MP who came to the forefront with allegations of sexual harassment, emphasized "clean and decent people" in a speech he gave at the CHP Edirne Provincial Headquarters just five days before the allegations surfaced.
