- The Brazilian-born mother divorced Aaron two years ago after four years of marriage, and the split hardened into a bitter custody battle over Vivian that preceded Tuesday's ruling.
- Restrictions imposed by the judge barred Cibelle from speaking Portuguese to Vivian, attending school activities, and required her to pay child support and cover half of medical costs.
- Lawyer Charlotte Rainwater, who represented Aaron, told KHOU the family is "shattered." "I've been practicing family law for 28 years and have never experienced anything like this," Rainwater said.
- Houston Police Lieutenant Larry Crowson confirmed the hearing outcome was decisive, while surviving relatives expressed they were "devastated." "She was loved without limit by her father, Aaron," the family said.
