In Brazil the highest statue of Mary in the world has been inaugurated. The sculpture in the pilgrimage site Crato in the north-east of the country has a height of 54 meters and was designed by the Brazilian artist Ranilson Viana. It is larger than the world famous statue of Christ of Rio de Janeiro, which has a height of 38 meters.
