Nico Antic was the first of four shark attack victims in 48 hours amid murky waters caused by heavy rains, with fundraising exceeding $239,000 for the family.
- On Jan 24, 2026, Nico Antic, 12-year-old boy, died in hospital after a shark attack while jumping off rocks in Vaucluse, Sydney Harbour; his family said, `We are heartbroken to share that our son, Nico has passed away.`
- Authorities said heavy rain and runoff created brackish water that attracted bull sharks, with the state's once-in-500-year event causing large runoff into coastal waters, Marine Area Command commander Superintendent Joseph McNulty said.
