Police disperse Belgrade students with rubber batons in front of the Serbian public television headquarters

For the first time, riot police used physical violence against protesting university students.

The Dveri Movement today called on the Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, to order the police to act in accordance with the law and protect all protesting citizens.

Former president of Serbia and the Democratic Party and current president of the Social Democratic Party, Boris Tadić, said that members of the Gendarmerie brutally beat students and citizens in front of the RTS building, that the situation is dangerous, and that citizens must organize themselves to protect students.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced this evening that "it will not intervene against those who implement blockades". Although the video published on the networks shows that members of the police beat the students with batons, the police state that "when they arrived on duty, the Gendarmerie was disturbed and attacked".
