Ahead of Thursday's European summit, the European Commission and Ukraine have proposed a temporary end to the Russia-Ukraine war. The territorial proposal is broadly in line with what US President Trump put forward last week, calling for an immediate halt to fighting in line with the current state of war. This would be complemented by a proposal to pay war reparations for the frozen 200 billion euros in Russian state claims.
