I can't say exactly when my interest in Africa first arose, although I attribute it to Don Manuel de Iradier and his impact on my subconscious during my childhood. In any case, I've been interested in the health, political, and social issues of the African continent for decades. The first time I set foot on African soil was in 1985 in Sudan, during the era of We Are the World, and the last time was in 2024 in Angola.
