Billy Strings adopts a highway
Grammy-winning bluegrass musician Billy Strings, a native of Muir in Ionia County where he grew up and attended school under his real name William Apostol, announced on his social media last week that he has agreed to clean up a stretch of I-96 in Kent County. “We adopted a highway,” Strings wrote in a post dated Oct. 1. “Just east of the Grand Rapids airport on Route 96 to help Keep Michigan Beautiful, one mile at a time.”
