On Tuesday, economic expert Manar Al-Obaidi attributed the appreciation of the exchange rate of the United States dollar against the Iraqi dinar on the parallel market to the forthcoming application of the customs pre-counting mechanism. He commended that mechanism, but said that although it had temporary side effects on the domestic market, it would raise the country ' s customs revenues to 6-8 trillion dinars per year.
