Delgado chosen to chair Uruguay's National Party
Former presidential candidate Álvaro Delgado was elected chairman of Uruguay's National Party (PN) board of directors this weekend, narrowly defeating fellow Senator Javier García by 202 votes to 184 amid boos blaming him from the recent loss to President Yamandú Orsi. Luis Alberto Heber and Carlos Enciso received 45 and 33 votes, respectively.
Yesterday the Convention of the National Party was held that elected its new board. In a tense and bitter vote he was elected as new president of the board, Álvaro Delgado, who obtained 202 votes, followed by Javier García with 184, third place Luis Alberto Heber who won 45 votes and lastly Carlos Enciso, with 33. When the results were known there were applause but also booing and several conventional ones withdrew.
