Upcoming Bentley Electric SUV Named Torcal; Debut On September 23
Bentley says the 5-meter electric SUV will have a range of more than 300 miles and will be fully revealed on 23 September 2026.
On Monday, Bentley confirmed its first fully electric vehicle will be called the Torcal, a 5-meter-long luxury SUV scheduled for full reveal on September 23, 2026.
Named after El Torcal de Antequera in Spain, the moniker also derives from the Latin verb 'torquere,' meaning to twist and the origin of 'torque.' Bentley delayed the project from last year amid weak market demand for premium electric vehicles.
The Torcal features a striking illuminated grille and promises a range of more than 300 miles, while designers prioritized ergonomics with a curved central touchscreen and omitted a passenger display, emphasizing "everyday usability."
Chairman and chief executive Frank-Steffen Walliser calls the Torcal "the most considered car" in Bentley's history; expected to launch around £170,000, it directly competes with the Range Rover.
Following competitors like Porsche and Lamborghini, Bentley now plans a multi-powertrain strategy, launching one new plug-in hybrid or electric model annually until 2035 rather than pursuing all-electric transition.
