BENGALURU, AUG 3 – Ashraf allegedly threatened to withhold food and lodging to coerce the victim before assaulting her; police arrested him after the student filed a complaint.
- On the night of August 2, 2025, Ashraf, the PG owner in Bengaluru, threatened to cut off her food and shelter, then took her to an under-construction building where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
- At the PG accommodation, tensions rose when she alleged that on Saturday night, Ashraf threatened to deny her food and accommodation if she refused to comply, after she had moved in just 10 days earlier.
- Attempting to send her location to a friend during the assault, she was unable to do so, and Ashraf dropped her back at the PG between 1.30 am and 2.15 am.
- On Sunday morning, Soladevanahalli police confirmed the arrest and said an investigation is ongoing, with local residents and women’s rights groups demanding stronger safeguards.
- Beyond the immediate case, this incident highlights broader concerns about women’s safety and dignity away from home, urging society to respect consent unconditionally and support survivors.
