The Milan police are investigating alleged sexual assaults on young female tourists by men on New Year's Eve.

A student from Liège, Laura Barbier, reported to the Belgian press that she and five of her girlfriends were physically and sexually harassed on New Year's Eve in Milan's Cathedral Square. The group of young Belgians celebrating New Year's Eve in the Italian city consisted of four girls 20-21 years old and two boys.
