Belarus threatens to shift Zapad-2025 military drills closer to NATO border
Belarusian Deputy Defense Minister Pavel Muraveika said Minsk originally chose to move the joint Russian-Belarusian drills away from the western frontier to ease tensions, but that decision may now be reconsidered.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus Pavel Muraveyko stated that the previous decision to postpone the areas where the Zapad-2025 exercises will be held may be revised.
The Polish Army General Staff has released more details regarding the "Iron Defender" military exercise, scheduled for September. The Polish Army has confirmed the participation of over 34,000 Polish soldiers. Allies from several NATO countries will also participate in the exercise. Up to 600 pieces of military equipment are expected to be used during "Iron Defender."
Belarus has indicated that it may reverse its previous decision to move the joint Russian-Belarusian Zapad-2025 military exercises to the interior of the country and move them closer to the borders shared with NATO countries, The Kyiv Independent reports.
